Quantum Graphs II: Some spectral properties of quantum and combinatorial graphs

The paper deals with some spectral properties of (mostly infinite) quantum and combinatorial graphs. Quantum graphs have been intensively studied lately due to their numerous applications to mesoscopic physics, nanotechnology, optics, and other areas. A Schnol type theorem is proven that allows one to detect that a point λ belongs to the spectrum when a generalized eigenfunction with an subexpo...

Expansions for the Bollobás-riordan Polynomial of Separable Ribbon Graphs

We define 2-decompositions of ribbon graphs, which generalise 2-sums and tensor products of graphs. We give formulae for the Bollobás-Riordan polynomial of such a 2-decomposition, and derive the classical Brylawski formula for the Tutte polynomial of a tensor product as a (very) special case. This study was initially motivated from knot theory, and we include an application of our formulae to m...

On common neighborhood graphs II

Let G be a simple graph with vertex set V (G). The common neighborhood graph or congraph of G, denoted by con(G), is a graph with vertex set V (G), in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if they have at least one common neighbor in G. We compute the congraphs of some composite graphs. Using these results, the congraphs of several special graphs are determined.

Spectral properties of a class of unicyclic graphs

The eigenvalues of G are denoted by [Formula: see text], where n is the order of G. In particular, [Formula: see text] is called the spectral radius of G, [Formula: see text] is the least eigenvalue of G, and the spread of G is defined to be the difference between [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. Let [Formula: see text] be the set of n-vertex unicyclic graphs, each of whose vertices...
